The 93-year-old had also shared about her experience of playing the violin and on her schooling days before her performance

In her speech, Dr Siti Hasmah said she stopped playing the violin at the age of 16 to focus on her studies. She only took it up again 70 years later, at the age of 86 as she said that age should not be a factor for people to pursue their dreams.

The 93-year-old also shared in her speech that she strongly remembers an incident that occurred when she was sitting for her last paper for the Senior Cambridge Examination back in 1941.

“(On that day), bombs dropped on Singapore and in Penang and the Japanese army crossed the borders into Kelantan,” she said as reported by The Star Online.

“These experiences could be reflected in the gala dinner’s theme today which is United and Strong: Past and Present,” she added.
